涼しくなってきた10月、今月は草刈り、レタスの苗付き、ニンジンの間引きをしました。
蚊も少なくなってきたと思いきや、先月よりも刺されている気がする！！
ジョーさんが持ってきた蚊帳が大活躍です。子供たちも大喜び。
Under the crisp air of autumn, we, Green Journey Farm club, mowed grass (as always!), planted lettuce seeding and thinned carrots this month. Mosquitos are still very active in October… We made mosquito net tent and kids really loved it!
大人が畑仕事をしている最中、子供たちは今日もいろんな発見、体験をしました。
While adults were farming chores, kids found many things and had wonderful experience.
「今日は子どもたちが、虫に興味津々でした。虫博士のお兄ちゃんが、小さな子どもたちに虫の見つけ方を教えているのがとてもよかったです。」アン先生の振り返りです。
“I saw the children were very interested in insects today. It was wonderful to see the more experienced children show the younger ones how to find insects.” Mrs. Anne shared us her observation after today’s activity.
年少のこどもたちは、最後には虫に触ったり、捕まえられるように。
大人が教えなくても、子どもの世界の中で、お互いに学びあい、成長できるということ。
Some of younger kids were able to touch and catch insects through playing with older ones. They are learning and growing up each other without adults’ help.
そして最後に、子どもたち（特に幼児！）たっての希望で、虫よけカバーの骨組みに使った竹で、トンネルを作りました。
At the end of the day, toddlers wanted to make a tunnel with pieces of bamboo, which was used for framework of anti-insect net.
「竹の輪っかを上から押してたわむ感触で遊んだり、地面から引っこ抜いてビヨーンと伸びるのに目を丸くして喜んでいたり。教師としては、こういう探求心やチャレンジを見るのは本当に嬉しい！」と、アン先生。
“I saw some of them pushing on the bamboo and noticing how soft it is. They also tried to pull the pieces of bamboo out of the ground and loved how it flew in the air. As a teacher, I love to see this this kind of exploration and experimentation. They are learning about the properties of bamboo and what it can do.”, said Mrs. Anne.
自然と触れ合うなかでの学び。子どもも大人も、それぞれが新しい気づきのある、そんな１日になったと思います。
来月はそろそろ収穫の季節！？野菜たちが、すくすく成長していますように。
Learning from nature. I believe we, both kids and adults, found new awareness in each own point of view through today’s activity.
