This was the last green journey farm club of this year. We cleaned up, harvested and made the New Year’s decorative pine trees.

After we finished cleaning up, we went to the bamboo thicket to get bamboo for making the New  Year’s decorative pine trees. We found thick and straight bamboo, cut it and carried it to our farm. This time elementary school boy tried to cut a bamboo.

Next we separated into a bamboo team and a pine tree team. The pine tree team went to cut pine trees with farm teacher Mr. Joe. When they found good branches, Mr.Joe climbed the tree and cut them very easily.

The bamboo team cut the bamboo into shorter pieces. We cut the joints of the bamboo for the section to look like smiling faces.

We started making the New Year’s decorative pine tree with the heavenly bamboo, the sercandra glabra and the pine cornes we brought by ourselves.

The adults and the kids made the big New Year’s decorative pine trees together. And then the kids  made the small one by themselves.

They looked very nice and the farm had an atmosphere like the end of the year.

Next it was time to harvest! But some kids wanted to play at the river. So some kids started to harvest and some kids went to the river.

At the river we were surprised that water went up more than last month. The kids said “Why?” “Maybe because of rain?” “I think a shark is here!” ” Alligator too!!” They looked excited.

They touched the water and threw stones for a while and then some kids started to carry sand to the water and tried to widen the space more. But it didn’t work. So the kids picked up tall grass and tied them and then put them in the water first, then put sand on the grass. It worked! The space became wider little by little then finally they could stand up on the small new land!

The ability to think, imagine, never give up, and the joy at success. . . The kids learned from anything. They are reliable. They had a nice look and came back to the farm.

When we came back to the farm, the harvest was done, there were many potatoes, carrots and lettuce. The lettuce was so big, it looked like a bouquet.

We haven’t harvested the broccoli and garlic yet but they are growing up well.

The kids washed carrots and ate them. The carrots were sweet and juicy.

At the end we enjoyed music. We played djembe, ukulele and the didgeridoo. Which is a folk musical instrument of the aborigines. It was first time to see a didgeridoo for many members. So we were surprised because it was very big and long.

The boys started to play the djembe. And another boy told them that if they tilted the djembe the sound would change.

We were relaxing with nice and mysterious music. And we thought that although it was usually full of the cries of many insects in the summer, it was so quiet in the winter.

That was the end of year for our farm club.
